About authors
Boating journalist Mike Westin has been sailing for 40 years, progressing from a sea scout to a sailing instructor. At 16 he became an apprentice on tall ships and then first mate. He went on to spend one and a half years in the navy when young. Swedish boating journalist with many years of experience.

Oliver Solanas Heinrichs was born in Barcelona and has been in touch with the ocean since childhood. He is coordinator for the Canary Islands and Vice-president of the Spanish cruising association (ANAVRE) and represents several international associations on the island of Fuerteventura. He has been involved with sailors and the Spanish government for several years and periodically assists at conferences and boat shows. He has worked as a safety officer and Spanish press contact for the ARC.
He is founder of 8islas, www.8islas.com , the Bluewater sailing platform on the Canary islands since 2013, a sailors platform that based on a network and connections on the islands offers help to the sailors and sailing industry.
He has been on the Canary Islands since 1996 and lives on his boat Islander, an Amel Kirk. He is one of the core organizers for the famous Viking Explorers Rally, that leaves every January from the Canary Islands to Grenada, in the Caribbean.
8islas is a sailors platform which assists sailors on the Canary Islands through the different associations it represents, such as the OCC, ANAVRE, TransOcean and the Seven Seas.
